Amics de Punta Nati (Friends of Punta Nati) is a not-for-profit cultural organisation.
The association’s aims are to defend, preserve, study and publicise the ethnological, architectural, natural and landscape values of the region identified as Punta Nati, the territory from where the tramontana north wind blows towards Ciutadella, stretching from Torre del Ram to Cala Morell.
Firstly and most importantly, the organisation was created to enhance appreciation for the Punta Nati cultural landscape and defend it from any project detracting from it. The final aim is to attain a declaration covering Punta Nati’s entire territory as a Bien de Interés Cultural (National Site of Cultural Interest), thereby ensuring its protection, conservation and permanence over time.
The association was founded in summer 2016 under the auspices of an exhibition held in Roser de Ciutadella municipal hall, “Punta Nati: Landscape of Stone – Cultural Heritage at Risk?” , organised by the Martí i Bella Archaeological Historical Society and the Fundació Líthica Pedreres de s’Hostal, which joined forces in defence of this cultural landscape.
Currently the association has around 300 members and is continuing with a petition to ensure the entire territory of Punta Nati is declared a National Site of Cultural Interest, after 3,000 signatures were collected during the exhibition. A total of 8,000 signatures have now been gathered and delivered to the Menorca Island Council.
Stone by stone, our objective is for Punta Nati to be declared a National Site of Cultural Interest. Our actions consist of informing about and publicising this cultural landscape, and raising awareness of the risk that it might disappear beneath 200,000 solar panels.
Make your contribution and you will receive your Friends of Punta Nati membership number.
